For the first 30 battles you’ll only see bots but after that you’ll see an increasing number of real players. The purpose of the new tutorial, the use of bots and new player matchmaking in general is to give new players a better chance of staying alive long enough to learn and practice the basics of the game. Those bots may be programmed to be a bit easier for very new players to kill. I have seen a post on a different forum reporting the same behavior.
